Privacy Policy

Avalanche IQ ("the app", "we") is an avalanche-safety learning app operated by Robert Pinsent, Switzerland. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to the app and this website.

1. What we collect

• Account data — your email address (for sign-in), chosen username and country flag, which are visible to other users in the leaderboard.
• Progress data — your answers, scores, XP, levels, streaks and accuracy, stored to show you progress and rankings.
• Technical data — basic device and app-version information needed to run and improve the service.
• Payments — if you subscribe in the future, purchases are handled by Apple (App Store). We never see your card details.

2. Why we use it

• To provide the quiz service, sync your progress across devices, and run leaderboards.
• To send sign-in emails (magic links).
• To keep the service secure and improve the app.

3. Legal basis (GDPR)

We process your data to perform the contract you enter when you create an account (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), for legitimate interests such as security and service improvement (6(1)(f)), and with your consent where required (6(1)(a)).

4. Who we share it with

• Supabase — database, authentication and hosting.
• Resend — delivery of sign-in emails.
• Google — when you sign in with Google.
• Apple — the App Store and future in-app purchases.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. These providers process data only to provide their service to us.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your account and progress data while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time — contact us below — and we will remove it within 30 days.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, export and delete your data, and to object to or restrict processing. To exercise any of these, email us at hello@avalanche-iq.app. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority (in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner).

7. Children

The app is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and stored with our hosting provider's security measures. No system is perfectly secure — we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

9. Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
